Events can be assigned a severity level to help describe how impactful the event is. StatusDashboard supports standard severity levels and custom severity levels.
Standard Severity
Standard severity levels are available for selection whenever creating or updating events.

Custom Severity
If you want to use your own nomenclature for event severity that matches the nomenclature in your organization, you can do so in the event configuration settings: Admin > Events > Event Configuration. Here you can setup the following:
- Enable: Enable/disable the use of custom severity values. Once enabled, you will only see the option for your custom severity values when creating/updating events.
- Custom Name: This is the header name for Event Severity that will be shown on all status dashboards and notifications sent about any events. The default name is Severity.
- Custom Value(s): These are the custom severity values that you want to be available as options when creating or updating events. You may include up to 8 values in your custom severity settings.
Notes:
- If a custom severity is defined for an event, but custom severities are disabled in the event configuration settings, then the custom severity will not be shown on any status dashboards or event notifications.
- If a custom severity is defined for an event and the event is subsequently edited or saved, the custom severity will be removed from the event.
